Foxhall Internists has once again met all criteria for Laboratory Accreditation by COLA, a national healthcare accreditation organization. Accreditation is given only to laboratories that apply rigid standards of quality in day-to-day operations, demonstrate continued accuracy in the performance of proficiency testing, and pass a rigorous on-site laboratory survey. Foxhall Internists has routinely earned COLA accreditation in its biennial surveys as a result of their long-term commitment to provide quality service to its patients. The most recent accreditation survey was performed in 2008. Foxhall Internists will once again participate in the 2010 accreditation survey.
COLA is a nonprofit, physician-directed organization promoting quality and excellence in medicine and patient care through programs of voluntary education, achievement, and accreditation.
COLA, completing over 33,000 laboratory surveys, is the premier clinical laboratory education, consultation, and accreditation organization. COLA is approved by the federal government and sponsored by the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, the College of American Pathologist, and the American Osteopathic Association.
Foxhall Internists also participates in standardized proficiency testing programs administered by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and the American College of Physicians (ACP). These are national programs in which CAP and ACP send samples to laboratories throughout the United States. Laboratories are graded on their ability to accurately identify test samples. Foxhall Internists regularly scores 100% on such tests.
