Beth L.P. Ungar, MD

Dr. Beth L.P. Ungar has had broad experience in health care delivery in academic, military, public, private, and international settings. A native of Chicago, Dr. Ungar graduated from Radcliffe College, Harvard University, with a B.A. in Biology in 1968. She obtained a Master's degree in Anthropology from American University and, in conjunction with a fellowship in Suicide Prevention at the National Institute of Mental Health, was awarded a Master's degree in Community Health by the University of the District of Columbia. She obtained her medical degree from Georgetown University in 1977, having spent her first two years of study at Northwestern University from 1973 to 1975, and completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Georgetown University Hospital.

Dr. Ungar is highly trained and board-certified in the field of Infectious Diseases. She completed a fellowship in the field at Johns Hopkins, and an additional medical staff fellowship at the Laboratory of Parasitic Diseases of the National Institutes of Health. She was a Clinical and research Associate Professor in the Departments of Medicine and Preventive Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS). She is a member of several honor societies, and has received multiple awards, including an Exceptional Service Medal from USUHS.

Since 1994, Dr. Ungar has practiced medicine with Foxhall Internists, where she has treated a broad range of medical problems, particularly in post-adolescent and middle-aged populations.

Beth Ungar is married and lives in Washington, DC She is the mother of a daughter and a son.
